Restore It

1. Click the Start button.

2. Click "Turn Off Computer."

3. Click "Restart." After Windows shuts down and/or your computer restarts, start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.

4. Press the up arrow key on your keyboard until “Safe Mode” is highlighted. Press “Enter.”

5. Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the operating system you are trying to secure, then press “Enter” (in this case, there is only one).

6. Login to the "Administrator" account. If the account is password protected and you do not know the password, contact your administrator.

7. Click "Yes" to proceed in safe mode.

8. Click the Start button.

9. Point to "All Programs," then "Accessories," then "System Tools," and then select "Backup."

10. Click "OK."

11. Click "Next."

12. Select the "Restore files and settings" radio button.

13. Click "Next."

14. Click "Browse."

15. Click "Browse."

16. Click "My Computer."

17. Open "Shared Documents."

18. Open the System State backup file that you are going to use (in this case, there is only one).

19. Click "OK."

20. Under "Backup Identification Label," find the floppy disk icon that shows up in bold black & white, rather than gray. Double-click on it.

21. Tick the "System State" checkbox under "Volume," and then click "Next."

22. Click "Advanced."

23. Click "Next."

24. Click "OK."

25. Select the "Replace existing files" radio button.

26. Click "Next."

27. Click "Next."

28. Click "Finish."

29. When the restore is complete, click "Close."

30. Click "Yes" to restart your computer.
